JURONG LAKE RUN 2012

RULES & REGULATIONS

Title

  1. The Jurong Lake Run 2012 (“JLR 2012”) is organised by the Taman Jurong Constituency Sports Club (referred to herein as the “Organiser”) in accordance with these Rules & Regulations (“R&Rs”) and Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) that is applicable to the Participants. This is set out in www.juronglakerun.com (“Official Website”).

Interpretation

  1. The Organiser reserves the right to modify or substitute any of these R&Rs and/or T&Cs from time to time as they deem fit. If there is ambiguity in any of these provisions, the Organiser shall be the authority to interpret and in so doing, they will take into account the interests of all the affected Participants. Any amendments to these R&Rs and/or T&Cs will be updated on the Official Website.

Registration

  1. The Participant (a person) who has entered to take part in the JLR 2012, by completing the official entry form, including online registration, confirms the Participant’s agreement to abide by these R&Rs.

    Entry details

  2. The Participant(s) agrees to: (a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about the Participant contained in the registration form (the “Registration Data”); (b) maintain the security of the Participant’s password and identification; and (c) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. The Organiser may contact the Participant(s) from time to time by email. Any notice sent to the email address registered with the Organiser shall be deemed as received by the Participant(s).
  3. If the Participant(s) provides any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or if the Organiser has grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, the Organiser may suspend or terminate the Participant’s registration and refuse any and all future use of the Official Website (or any parts thereof).
  4. The Organiser reserves the right to limit and/or refuse race entries without assigning any reason.
  5. The Organiser will not entertain nor be in any way responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete entry details.
  6. Participant(s) are strictly not allowed to transfer their race entries to another party or change race categories after their registrations are confirmed.
  7. After registration, there will be no fee refund for Participant(s) who do not eventually take part in the JLR 2012, for any reasons whatsoever.

Age restrictions

  1. Participant(s) must be 13 years and above on the race day to participate in the 6km & 10km Competitive Race.
  2. Participant(s) below the age of 18 are required to seek parental/guardian consent and fill up the relevant indemnity and declaration forms as deemed necessary by the Organiser upon online registration or in-person registration, failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to that Participant(s).
  3. Male Veteran: A male Participant shall be considered a Male Veteran if his 45th birthday falls on/before the race day.
  4. Female Veteran: A female Participant shall be considered a Female Veteran if her 40th birthday falls on/before the race day.

Race Categories

  1. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel any category without prior notice to the Participant(s).
  2. There are two Race Divisions for the  Competitive Race – 6km & 10km. The various race categories under each Division are:

        1. 10km Men’s Open
        2. 10km Women’s Open
        3. 10km Men’s Veteran
        4. 10km Women’s Veteran
        5. 10km Men’s International
        6. 10km Women’s International
      2. 6km
        1. 6km Men’s Open
        2. 6km Women’s Open
        3. 6km Men’s International
        4. 6km Women’s International
        5. 6km Men’s Junior
        6. 6km Women’s Junior

Race Entry Packs

  1. All Participants must collect their Race Entry Packs which include the Bib, timing device, Event T-shirt, Event Handbook and other novelties at the Race Expo during the collection period (“Collection Period”), of which details will be stated on the Official Website. If Participants are unable to collect their Race Entry Pack in person, they may empower a duly authorised representative in accordance with the procedure detailed on the Official Website.
  2. Late collection will not be entertained and the Organiser shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused, due to Participant(s)’ inability to collect their Race Entry Packs. The Organiser may extend the collection time at the Organiser’s discretion and on a good-will basis only. For avoidance of doubt, the Organiser is not obliged to extend the collection time or to ensure that the Participant(s) receive their Race Entry Packs. At all times, it is the responsibility of the Participant(s) to collect their Race Entry Packs during the Collection Period. Entry packs not collected during the Collection Period will be deemed as unwanted, and the Organiser shall be at liberty to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly.

3km Community Walk-a-Jog Category

  1. 3km Community Walk-a-Jog participants will not be able to collect the Finisher’s T-shirt, Finisher’s Medal and Finisher’s eCertificate.
  2. 3km Community Walk-a-Jog category is open to participants of all ages and nationality.

Disclosure

  1. Information of Participant(s) 3km Community Walk-a-Jog Category

    1. The Participant(s) is deemed to have given written permission to the Organiser for the Organiser to collect, analyse and collate any personal information relating to that Participant(s), as the Organiser may in its sole discretion deem fit, including without any limitation information for the Organiser’s programme, planning, data-processing, statistical or risk-analysis, research, fund-raising and/or, any other purposes.
  2. Recorded Media

    1. The Organiser reserves the right to use any photographs (including those of Participants), motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records of the JLR 2012, for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.

The Race

    1. Right to cancel and amend routes

      1. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel the JLR 2012 at any time without prior notice to the Participant(s), in which case they will make effort to inform the Participant(s) prior to the date of the event. If the JLR 2012 has to be cancelled, there shall be no refund of fees paid and the Organiser shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused.
      2. The Organiser reserves the right to amend the JLR 2012 race routes as they deem fit for the safety of the Participants and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the event, at any time without prior notice to the Participant(s). In such cases, every effort will be made to inform the Participant(s) prior to the date of the event. The Organiser shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes.
    2. Closure of roads

      1. The race route will be closed to traffic for the duration of the race up to four hours, from the first flag off at 7.30am onwards. After which, beyond the four-hour cut off mark, the roads will be re-opened to live traffic. More details will be available on the Official Website, E-newsletters and Event Handbook.
      2. For Participant(s) who are unlikely to finish the race within four hours, race officials will divert Participant(s), at designated diversion points along the race route, to a shorter race route towards the finish gantry. For their own safety and to avoid being caught in between live traffic, Participant(s) must obey as instructed; else they will be pulled off the race course immediately. Finishers’ medals (only applicable for 6km & 10km Competitive categories) and official finish timings will still be issued to the afore-mentioned Participant(s), however they will NOT be issued their finisher’s certificates as they will be deemed disqualified.
    3. Restriction on vehicles along race route

      1. Pets, bicycles, in-line skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the race route for the 6km & 10km Men/ Women categories. Only official race and medical vehicles are allowed on the race route.
    4. Participants’ Bib

      1. The form on the reverse side of the Participants’ Bib must be fully and accurately completed. Participant(s) must attach the assigned Bib on the front of his/her running attire. Participant(s) not wearing a Bib will be taken off the race route by security officers.

Indemnity

      1. Whilst reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organiser to ensure the Participants’ safety, Participant(s) take part in JLR 2012 at their own risk and the Organiser will not be responsible or held liable for any injury or death howsoever arising from training for or during participation in JLR 2012. Participant(s) are strongly encouraged to consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual race day.

Retirement from race

      1. Participant(s) must retire from the race immediately if required to do so by any member of the official medical staff, Race Director, Referee and/or Security Officer.

Adherence to flag-off timings

    1. Participant(s), who commence before the actual start time of the race category for which they registered for, will be disqualified. The start time for the respective race categories can be found on the Official Website.
    2. Participant(s) who do not start within 30 minutes from respective flag off (6km & 10km competitive) will be disqualified and for safety reason, may not be allowed to start.

Winners and Prizes

    1. The “GunTime” will be considered to determine the winners for the following prize categories:
      1. 10km Men’s Open
      2. 10km Women’s Open
      3. 10km Men’s Veteran
      4. 10km Women’s Veteran
      5. 10km Men’s International
      6. 10km Women’s International
      7. 6km Men’s Open
      8. 6km Women’s Open
      9. 6km Men’s International
      10. 6km Women’s International
      11. 6km Men’s Junior
      12. 6km Women’s Junior

Prizes

    1. All prizes not claimed within one (1) month from 5 December 2012 will be forfeited and the Organiser will be at liberty to redistribute or dispose them accordingly.
    2. Prizes must be taken, in the forms as presented by the Organiser. They are not transferable or exchangeable for cash and are subjected to the R&Rs and/or T&Cs as determined by the Organiser.

Disputes over results

  1. For prize winners or possible prize winners, appeals over disputes must be made on-site in person, in a written format and an appeal fee of 50SGD, within 30 minutes of the published results on the results notice board on-site or immediately after the prize presentation, whichever is earlier.
  2. The Organiser reserves the rights to replace any winners if he/she is found to be disqualified.
  3. For all other Participant(s), appeals over disputes regarding the results must be submitted in a written format and an appeal fee of 50SGD, including electronic mail within 7 days of race day. The Organiser reserves the right not to entertain any appeals after 13 December 2012.

Finisher’s Medal and eCertificate

  1. All Participant(s) who successfully complete the race in the 6km & 10km race category will be awarded a Finisher’s medal and Finisher’s Tee (In respect to the distance completed) upon the presentation of their Bib to the respective officials.
  2. All Finisher’s Medals are to be collected on the race day. No requests thereafter will be entertained.
  3. All Participant(s) who successfully complete the race in their chosen race category will be awarded a Finisher’s eCertificate by electronic mail. This will be sent in August 2012. The Organiser is not responsible for any undelivered certificates owing to incorrect addresses given. This entitlement shall not apply to Participants who are unable to complete the race within the four (4) hours cut-off mark.
