1. Registration FAQ

When does registration start and end?

Online Registration is now open till registration closes.

On-site registration will be available from 19th of March 2013 till registration closes.

Registration closes on 31st May 2013.

What are the modes of registration?

There are two ways to register for Jurong Lake Run 2013, Online and Offline.

What is the type of payment accepted?

For Online Registration, all major credit/debit cards and PayPal are accepted. We do not accept NETS payment.

For Offline Registration, only cash payment are accepted.

Will I be entitled to a discount if I register in person at one of the Offline Registration Sites?

For offline registration, only PAssion Card discount will apply. All other discount types like promotional codes, group discount etc. will only be applicable for Online Registration.

For JLRClub Members, more information will be announced during your weekly training sessions.

Do I need to fill up any relevant indemnity declaration form and require parental/guardian consent if I’m under the age of 18?

Yes, participants 18 years old and below (as of Race Day) are required to download, complete and submit the Parental Consent and Indemnity Form to the counter staff during the Sports Expo. Note that Participants will not be allowed to collect their race pack if they fail to do so.

How will I know if my entry has been accepted?

Online Registration: Participants will receive a race confirmation slip as well as a payment receipt via email upon successful registration.

Offline Registration: Participants will receive a payment receipt immediately upon payment at our offline registration counters. Two weeks after registration closes (Mid June) confirmed participant will receive a race confirmation slip.

For participants who do not receive this race confirmation slip by mid june, please provide the following personal details to contactus@juronglakerun.com with the following details:

      1. Name
      2. NRIC/ Passport number
      3. Race category signed up for
      4. Payment Receipt
      5. Any other documents that can help us trace your registration

If my email was being directed to my junk mail and was deleted before I can retrieve it, where can I retrieve my confirmation slip?

By mid May 2013, participants will be able to retrieve your confirmation slip via “Manage Registration” or Click Here and login.

Why is it that I have not received my race confirmation slip despite registering and making payment?

There could be a few reasons why a participant has not received his/her race confirmation slip:

      1. The first would be that his/her registration was not successful and therefore the race confirmation slip was not rendered.
      2. There could have been an error in his/her email at the point of registration so the race confirmation slip was not sent to the correct account.
      3. The email has been blocked by the mail server and/or is treated as Spam
      4. We have not received your registration form from the offline registration sites.
      5. Our offline registration site have accidentally misplaced your registration form.

 In any case, please provide the following personal details to contactus@juronglakerun.com with the following details:

      1. Name
      2. NRIC/ Passport number
      3. Race category signed up for
      4. Payment Receipt
      5. Any other documents that can help us trace your registration

The Organising Committee will check and reply within 3-5 working days.

Do I get a refund if I choose not to participate after registration?

No. All registrations are non-refundable.

Can I make changes to my particulars after submitting my registration?

For Online registration, you may do so in the Dashboard after you have Login Here. Note, however, that you CANNOT make changes to your NRIC/Passport Number.

For Offline registration please drop an email to contactus@juronglakerun.com with the following details:

      1. Name
      2. NRIC/ Passport number
      3. Race category signed up for
      4. Changes to be made

We will confirm your changes via a reply email within 3-5 working days.

Can I change my race categories, Event Running Vest or Event T-Shirt Size after I have registered?

Changes to race categories are strictly not allowed after registration.

However, you may change your Event Running Vest and Finisher T-Shirt size up to a certain cut off date.

What are the sizes for the Event Running Vest Shirt and Finisher T-Shirt?

How do I make payment for my online registration?

If you have already filled in the registration form but have yet to make payment, kindly follow these steps:

      1. Go to: http://register.juronglakerun.com/secured/register/category
      2. Log in using the your email and password as given to 8packs.com when you register for the 8packs.com account.
      3. Check the Box beside your registration and Click “Check out together”
      4. Follow the checkout process and make the necessary payment.

2. Sports Expo FAQ

When and where is the Sports Expo Pack?

The Sports Expo will be held on Saturday, 29 June 2013 to Sunday, 30 June 2013 at the Dragon & Phoenix Court, Chinese Garden. Operating hours of the expo will be from 10am to 8pm on both days. Click Here to find out more.

What documents should I produce upon collection of my race pack at the counter?

What can I do if I know in advance that I am unable to collect my race pack during the Sports Expo?

Participants who know in advance that they are unable to collect their race packs at the Sports Expo may appoint a representative to collect on their behalf. Click Here for a list of items your representative are required to produce upon collection of your race pack on your behalf.

Where can I download the Letter of Authorisation (LOA), which my representative would need to bring to the Sports Expo to collect my race pack on my behalf?

Can I or my representative still collect the race pack if either of us is unable to present the required documentation?

The Organisers reserve the rights to refuse the collection of race pack for any runner or representative who does not provide the required documentations.

If I miss the Sports Expo, will I be able to collect my race pack on the race day?

No. All runners and appointed representatives are to collect their race packs during the Sports Expo. There will be strictly no collection of race packs on the race day.

However, participants who missed the Sports Expo may collect their Race Pack under Late Collection. Click Here for more information.

Uncollected race packs after the Late Collection Period will be deemed unwanted and the Organisers shall be at liberty to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly.

Is there delivery service for the race packs?

Yes, there is a race pack courier service, which is chargeable at $8 per pack. Click here and visit the Entitlements tab for more information about the Race Pack Courier Service.

Will there be parking lots for the Sports Expo?

What are the items in my Race Pack?

Jurong Lake Run 2013 has prepared an exciting race pack for all our participants. Click Here and visit the Entitlements tab to find out more about the Race Pack.

I realised that I have missing/faulty items in my race pack after leaving the race pack collection counter. Can I return to the counter to request for an exchange of faulty items or a top-up of missing items?

No. All runners and representatives should perform a check for missing or faulty items in their race packs at the collection counter and notify the counter staff immediately should there be any faulty items or items missing from their race packs. Once they leave the collection counter, they will not be allowed to request for an exchange of faulty items or a top-up of missing items.

What happens if the timing device is missing from my race pack?

Please note that the timing device is attached to the back of the race bib (running tag) for all competitive runners. For more information about the timing device and race bib (running tag), Click Here.

A new timing device will be provided for free if it is not found at the back of the race bib (running tag) upon receipt at the collection counter. Every runner or representative should check to ensure there is a timing device attached to the back of the race bib before leaving the collection counter. Cases of missing timing devices will not be entertained once the runner or representative leaves the collection counter.

Can I exchange my race pack and/or all other items in the race pack according to my preference?

The exchanging of race packs and/or all other sponsors’ items are strictly not allowed.

How can I ensure that the timing device inside my race pack is correctly embedded with my personal particulars?

All timing device are attached to a Race Bib (Running Tag). As long as the information featured on the Race Bib (Running Tag) is correct, data embedded in the timing device will be correct as well.

However, if you realize any discrepancies with regards to your timing after the official results are released, do feel free to email us at contactus@juronglakerun.com.

What happens if I lose, misplace or forget to bring my timing device to the race? Can I still run in the race?

The timing device is attached to the back of the race bib (running tag) to help participants not lose, misplace or forget to bring the timing device. However, in the event that it happens, there will be no replacement provided.

Do I need to return the timing device after completing my race?

Runners do not need to return their timing devices as they are designed to be disposable.

Will I be able to exchange the Event Running Vest and/or Finisher T-Shirts if it does not fit me?

No. As the Organisers have provided the size charts for participants’ reference before they choose their T-shirt sizes during registration, any request for a change in T-shirt sizes will not be entertained.

What happens if the Race Bib (running tag) which I have been issued with does not match my personal particulars?

Kindly check the contents of your race bib pack before leaving the Sports Expo. If you encounter such an issue, please kindly approach the staff at the help desk. They will then assist you accordingly.

What is the purpose of the race bib (running tag) and why must I wear it?

The race bib acts as a passport for runners to take part in the race. Runners are required to fill in their personal details on the reverse side of their race bibs for emergency purpose (if it has not already been done so for you). Runners who do not wear their race bibs will be directed out of the race route by route marshals. Competitive Runners will not receive the Finishers’ Medal, Finisher T-Shirt and Race Certificate.

How and when will I receive my Race Certificate?

Competitive Participants are entitled to receive an e-certificate of completion within 1 week after the conclusion of the race.

For Competitive Participants who require a hard-copy race certificate of completion, an extra $2 is chargeable. Click here to find out more about your race entitlements.

Please note that purchase of hard-copy certificates are only applicable for local addresses (within Singapore)

Can I register for the race during the Sports Expo Pack?

There will not be any race registration during the Sports Expo Pack.

Can I give up my race entry to someone else or change my race category?

No. Race entry is non-transferrable and any request from runners to change their race category will not be entertained after payment has been made.

3. Race Day FAQ

When will the Jurong Lake Run 2013 be held?

Jurong Lake Run 2013 will be held on 7 July 2013 with the first flag off at 7.00am

Where are the start and finish points?

The start point for the 10km, 6km and 3km categories are along Jurong Town Hall Road, outside the entrance of Snow City and Omnimax Theatre.

The start point for the 850m Kids Dash is along Yuan Ching Road, outside the entrance of Jurong Secondary School.

The finish point for all categories will be at the entrance to Chinese Garden.

If I miss the flag off time of my respective race category, can I join another race category flag off instead?

No. Participants will be disqualified and no timing will be provided if they do not run in the category that they have registered for. Participants who do not start within 20 minutes from their respective flag-off times will be disqualified.

What are the race categories available and the criteria to enter them?

What are the minimum participation age for the respective race categories?

All participants of the Competitive Races (10km and 6km) must be 13 years old and above as at 7 July 2013.  For the 850m Kids Dash and 3km Community Walk-a-Jog categories, there is no minimum age.

Will the Organisers close the registration of the respective race categories before the official closing date, 8th May 2013?

Yes. Registration may close before the official date if all the slots have been taken up.

What time does each race category start?

If I cannot make it for the race due to last minute commitments, can I get a friend to take my place?

No. Only registered participants are allowed to run in the races. Runners will be disqualified if found having someone replaced him/her during the event.

Do I need to return the Timing Device to the Organiser at the finish line in order to collect my Finisher’s Medal after the race?

No. There is no need to return the Timing Device to the Organisers at the finish line in order to collect your finisher medal after the race. The timing device is designed to be disposible.

What if I am injured during the race or otherwise unable to finish the race?

Medical assistance will be provided to these participants at first aid stations located along the route. However, competitive participants will not be issued their Finisher’s T-shirt, Finisher’s Medal or Finisher’s Certificate.

What are the refreshments that will be provided for the runners?

Isotonic drinks and Mineral Water will be provided for the participants en-route and at the start and end points.

Will there be any traffic disruptions due to the Run?

To accommodate the large number of runners taking part in Jurong Lake Run 2013, some of the roads along the running routes will be fully closed to the public during the race to ensure the safety of all participants. Necessary measures such as the use of auxiliary police officers (APO) / marshals as well as barricades would be instituted to facilitate the race. As the races progress over the morning, parts of the routes will re-open to traffic in a staggered format so traffic disruption is kept to a minimum. Emergency responses, however, will not be affected.

We understand that there may be some inconveniences caused but the Organiser will do all they can to minimise the impact of the closures.

What happens when I’m still in the midst of the race after the cut off time?

Participants who are still running the route after roads have been re-opened will be guided to pedestrian pavements by our route marshals, and allowed to continue the race from there.

Will competitive runners still receive the Finisher T-Shirt, Finisher Medal and Finisher’s certificate after the race cut-off time?

Yes, as long as competitive runners finishes the race, they will be entitled to receive the Finisher T-Shirt, Finisher Medal and Finisher’s certificate.

What happens if the race is called off because of bad weather?

In view of the safety and well-being of the runners, the Organiser may decide to call off the race due to bad weather.

Runners who are on the routes will be diverted by route marshals to nearby shelter areas and runners who have yet to begin their race will be advised by our marshals and volunteers to proceed to their respective Baggage Deposit Facilities to collect their belongings.

Will the runners be refunded their money if the race is called off?

If the race has to be cancelled, there will be no refund of fees paid, as stated in the Rules & Regulations.

This is mainly because the Organiser will have to pay the vendors and the service providers for the works and the purchases which were made to prepare for the race. Nevertheless, we do value the interest and the participation of our participants and we will do our best to make alternate arrangements.

You may approach any of our volunteers who will refer you to the respective in-charge, if required.

 


4. Volunteers FAQ

Can I attend later than the reporting time at 11pm?

To ensure that you are well prepared for your role, Race Day Volunteers are to report at 11pm on 7 July 2013 at Taman Jurong CC (1 Yung Sheng Road, Singapore 618495).

More information on the pre-race programme for volunteers will be sent out to all registered volunteers before the race.

Can I be in the same group as my friends?

We will not be able to accommodate all requests by volunteers to be in the same group. However, you and your friends may choose the same role for your preference to ensure a higher chance of working together. For a group of 20 or more friends, you may register directly by emailing us the particulars and we will try our best to accommodate your request to allocate all of you in the same group.

What if I want to change the role delegated on the event day?

We hope for your understanding if the role delegated does not match your preference. We will delegate your roles based on the event needs to ensure the smooth running of Jurong lake Run 2013. The change in roles will be reviewed on a case-to-case basis.

Can I directly report at the actual event venue itself?

Volunteers are required to report at Taman Jurong CC (1 Yung Sheng Road, Singapore 618495) to attend the pre-race briefing and other important activities.

More information on the pre-race programme for volunteers will be sent out to all registered volunteers before the race.

Is there an age requirement?

The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years old. For those who wish to participate but does not meet the age requirement, you may volunteer with an accompanying adult.
